19 Change your hearts and lives! Turn back to God so that your sins may be wiped away. 20 Then the Lord will provide a season of relief from the distress of this age and he will send Jesus, whom he handpicked to be your Christ. 21 Jesus must remain in heaven until the restoration of all things, about which God spoke long ago through his holy prophets.      Acts 3:19-21

In today’s reading from the Acts of the Apostles, it says to “change you hearts and lives” ( said another way – repent, and accept Jesus as Lord and Savior). In doing so, salvation from sin and total death is ours indeed !  It is then that our God would bring forth His refreshing grace into our daily lives. V. 21 speaks of what must occur before the end time, when Jesus returns in glory to reclaim His Kingdom, as was prophesized in the early days.

Let us pray together :  Lord of Heavenly hosts, we thank you for Your act of saving love, of bringing Jesus, Your Son, into the world. It is through His suffering, His death on the cross, and resurrection that final and complete victory over the debt of sin is secured, once and for all !! We thank you for Your refreshing of our minds, and our hearts, with Your abundant and loving grace. May we as the Body of Christ continue to stay strong and united, doing all we can tell this hurting world that there is a better way, a kinder way, and a loving way – it is through faith and belief in You and Your Beloved Son, in whose name we pray.   Amen

Yours In Christ  ,  Rollie

Acts 3:19-21

21 Heaven must receive him until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets.

It seems to me that this is THE test of faith for Christians. To believe in the resurrection of our spirit after being cremated or turned to dust in a casket, is the belief that non-Christians reject. It is very difficult for a logical thinking person to conceive of, however, it is the belief in everlasting life that makes the trials of this life bearable.

Dear Jesus help me to put my doubts aside and to live my life in the way that the bible teaches and to have faith in the goodness of life and knowing that I will be with you forever.

Acts 3: 19-21

19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord

I think obtaining forgiveness for my sins is one of the most difficult concepts for me to understand. I guess I question how God could forgive me. How many times do I do the same things over and over and ask God to forgive again. I think the Holy Spirit must wonder if I will ever get it right and yet forgiveness is given. This is when my faith kicks in and I realize that even if my Redeemer is out of sight he is there for me with forgiveness always.

Dearest Jesus, you died for me so that my sins would be forgiven. Thank you again for this wonderful dispensation. I attempt to not do the same things over and over, but my human weaknesses sometimes take hold and I sin again. You are an ever loving God and I am so thankful for my faith in you. Amen.

20200916 Wed, Daily Devotion - Acts 3:19-21

19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, 20 and that he may send the Messiah, who has been appointed for you-even Jesus. 21 Heaven must receive him until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through His holy prophets.

All of my focus is on Renewal, Restoration, and Refreshing because we must be renewed by the Word of God and the Spirit of God every day so that we may know what God’s good, pleasing, and perfect will for our daily situations. Today’s scriptures tell us what I can do to refresh my heart, mind, and soul. It is to Repent and Turn to God from all other focuses so that we would experience the restoration of everything as He promised long ago through His Holy prophets. It is always helpful and beneficial to repent and turn to God.

Father, thank you for reconfirming me the way of refreshing, renewing, and restoring Your Spirit in me. Lead and guide me to find areas like dry bones in my life and relationship with others so that I may know Your good, pleasing, and perfect will through in-depth repentance. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
