13 That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake. 2 Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it, while all the people stood on the shore. 3 Then he told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed. 4 As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. 5 Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. 6 But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. 8 Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. 9 Whoever has ears, let them hear.”      Matthew 13:1-9

As we all know, Jesus many times spoke to His disciples leveraging parables. Today’s reading is an example of that, The Parable of The Sower. Jesus is speaking to a crowd about this parable, which He does not explain fully to the crowd, but later in this chapter He does to the disciples. One needs to be able to listen and understand the seed ( i.e., the Word of God) when it is presented to them and put their heart and full faith into for it to be able to produce a good crop, as v. 8 tells us.

Let us pray please :  Great God of our lives , we love You. We don’t say this enough, and we should. Jesus came to be our brother, our Teacher, our friend. You brought Him into this world to save us all from the eternal death of sin. Help us to be better listeners, help us to gain understanding from Your Word , spoken to us. Jesus, You are The Son of The Living God, we offer these prayers in Your Name !!     Amen

Yours in Christ  ,  Rollie
