Our Daily Devotion for Wednesday, February 3rd, 2021

14 When Jesus came into Peter’s house, he saw Peter’s mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever.15 He touched her hand and the fever left her, and she got up and began to wait on him.16 When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick.17 This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah:
“He took up our infirmities
    and bore our diseases.”       Matthew 8:14-17
 
This reading, as well as the readings from Mark and Luke, speak to the power of healing that Jesus had. As Jesus healed and showed his ability to overcome disease and hurt, what God desires from us is to spread that news , so that others who are “diseased” with sin or evil can know His healing power. As part of His larger world-wide church, this is our calling.
 
Let us pray, please – Loving God , empower us please with Your spirit , so that we can be what is needed in this hurting and upset world – replacing hurt with healing, injustice with fairness, and hatred with love. We pay all this in Jesus’ Name ……… Amen.
