What do workers gain from their toil?  I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race.  He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet[a] no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.     Ecclesiastes 3:9-11

Today’s reading from Ecclesiastes is the well known “time for all things” reading , made somewhat famous by the folk rock song “Turn!Turn!Turn!” The writing of this book is attributed to Solomon ( some biblical texts refer to this book as The Words of The Preacher). In this section, he speaks of the beauty that God created, and how we should take pleasure in it. It also speaks of all the things of this world that happen quite regularly, that we are in the midst of them all the time. There is a “time and season”, if you will , for all of it. It is important that we take these events as they come, it is not in our power to change it, that only happens through God.

Let us be in prayer :  Teacher, Abba, Father :  help us to see and understand all that is in this world of Your creation- the beauty, the wonder, how awesome Your creation is. We praise You and give You alone the glory for all that exists, for it all comes from Your hand of grace and blessing. Please continue to bring us to a deeper and more meaningful understanding of all that desire from us , help us bring You to this troubled world, that they may know You more and more.  Through Jesus, The Risen One, we pray.   Amen.

Yours in Christ  ,  Rollie

Ecclesiastes 3:1-11

I have never read this book of the bible and by reading the headings of each section, I don’t think I would understand how saying everything is meaningless is God’s word. I certainly don’t believe everything in today’s reading. The author seems to be saying that for every good act there is a time for the opposite and I don’t accept that.

Precious Lord, I believe that the bible is Your Word, but I do not understand parts of it and that definitely applies to today’s reading. Please help me to find some meaning in what I have read. Amen.

Ecclesiastes 3: 1-11

11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

I feel that as I read and attempt to understand the Bible more, I get to know God more and I look at life differently. I realize that I am here, not just for myself, but for others. I look outside and see all the beauty that God has given to us. I find at times, I am in awe of what God has given to us. Let us use all he has shared with us to do good for His Church.

Dearest God, thank you for all you have given to me. I am learning to appreciate it more each day. You have been a very generous God and I thank you for the gifts in this life every day. I look forward to being with you in heaven, the greatest gift of all. Amen.

Ecclesiastes 3:11
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

I love that God has created me in His image (Gen 1:26) and beautiful no matter how I look to others. I am a masterpiece of God. What I need to know is that I need to know the timing because I am beautiful in my time, actually in His time for me. What all human beings need to know is the timing when each of us is the most beautiful.

God said the time as well, which is when we are full of eternity in our heart because God set a desire for eternity in our heart. Now I know that I am beautiful when I am filled with eternal things in my heart.

Father God, thank you for reminding me that I am beautiful and happy when I am filled with eternal things. Lead my heart, mind, and soul to find more eternal things and fill my heart with them. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
