24 When Moses had finished writing down in a book the words of this law to the very end, 25 Moses commanded the Levites who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord, saying, 26 “Take this book of the law and put it beside the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God; let it remain there as a witness against you. 27 For I know well how rebellious and stubborn you are. If you already have been so rebellious toward the Lord while I am still alive among you, how much more after my death! 28 Assemble to me all the elders of your tribes and your officials, so that I may recite these words in their hearing and call heaven and earth to witness against them.       Deuteronomy 31:24-28

Today’s reading in the Old testament depicts the completion of the book of the law by Moses to the Levites. He instructs them to take the book and place it beside the ark of the covenant of the LORD. Moses tells them that he fully knows that they are a corruptible people, and maybe even more so after his passing. He is “doing his due diligence” for God by making sure the Levites are aware of it ( the law), and that it will be recited to them.

Let us pray together – Eternal One, thank you for the great , faithful leaders that have come before us, such as Moses, and the prophets as well. These are people of great faith and belief in You, Mighty Jehovah ! Help us to learn from their words and actions, help us to be a faithful people, a faithful church, both corporately and as individuals. Guide us, LORD, through these turbulent times, that we can be steadfast and strong in the face of the upset and anger in our world. We pray all this through The Anointed One, our Savior Jesus.  Amen.

Yours in Christ  ,  Rollie

Deuteronomy 31: 24-28

27 For I know how rebellious and stiff-necked you are. If you have been rebellious against the Lord while I am still alive and with you, how much more will you rebel after I die!

Moses was like a parent watching over his children. As a parent he hoped that his children would always do what was right, but knew in his heart that this would not always be true. We also do not always do what is right and sin. We know that God is watching, but we do it anyway. We need to do better and always work to do what is right and bear witness to Gods law.

Dearest Lord, we are rebellious children. We don’t always do what is right. Help us to do better and as we bear witness to you may we become better people and honor you always. Amen.
