“ I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him”
Ephesians 1:16-17

In today’s reading from Paul’s letter to the residents of Ephesus, he offers prayers for them, prayers of thanksgiving, prayers that God will share wisdom and a deeper understanding to the Ephesians of both Him, as well as the Good News of Jesus’ victory over both death and Satin. He also reminds them that Jesus sits at God’s right hand, and that Our Savior has power and authority over all things, now and into the future.

Let us prayer together : Great and Glorious God, we pray to you as your church here in this world. Help us to grow each day in wisdom, insight and knowledge about You and about Jesus. Through Your amazing power, Jesus is King of King and Lord of Lords. Help us, we pray, to spread the Good news that death has now and forever been conquered, through His shed blood and resurrection.
It is in Your Son’s Name we pray.       Amen.

Yours in Christ , Rollie

Ephesians 1: 15-23

18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,

Why do I pray? I find that mostly I pray for help with a problem or for a family member that may be experiencing issues. I do catch myself at times and feel that I cheat God by doing this. Paul prays that God opens the eyes of my heart. He wants me to know God better. If I don’t see God for who He really is my life will suffer. If my eyes aren’t open to the greatness of God then my prayer life will suffer.

Martin Luther said:
”Pray as if everything depends on God, then work as if everything depends on you.”

Dearest God, open the eyes of my heart. Help me to know you better so that my prayers are more in praise of you instead of always asking for help from you. Help me to strengthen my view of you so that my prayers become more meaningful. Amen.

Ephesians 1:22-23
22 And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

God put everything under the feet of Jesus Christ and appointed Him as the top authority of the church. The church must be obedient to the authority of Jesus Christ. At the same time, we as different parts of the church must make the body of Christ as the holy filled with the Holy Spirit to witness the glory of God in the midst of the world.

Lord, help us to acknowledge the calling of each of us for Your church so that lead and use us to shine Your glory as we live as a part of Your church in the midst of the world. Thank you for calling us as a part of Your church and a participant of Your Kingdom work. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
