20 It is my expectation and hope that I won’t be put to shame in anything. Rather, I hope with daring courage that Christ’s greatness will be seen in my body, now as always, whether I live or die. 21 Because for me, living serves Christ and dying is even better.      Philippians 1:20,21   CEB

In this opening chapter of Paul’s letter, He tells the readers of his desire to see to it that the greatness of Christ is made known, both by Paul’s living this life dedicated to Christ, but also through Paul’s death as well. Even though Paul is going through a tumultuous time himself, he is very secure in his faith in God and Christ, no question there. Paul knows that, no matter what happens to him, God will be glorified. Isn’t this a great example of courage in your faith ??

Let’s be in prayer – All Powerful God, our Creator, we pray that we can be of great conviction in our faith and love of You, as Paul was. Help us LORD, gird us up to be strong against the evil that rocks our world – hatred, anger, injustice, prejudice, to name a few. Help us, God, to be a church that shows instead tolerance, forgiveness, understanding and hope for our future – a future with You as our Teacher and Guide.
All this we pray through Jesus, Our Savior.   Amen.

Yours in Christ  ,  Rollie

Philippians 1: 20-21

21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.

I live each day for Christ and attempt to do well in his name. Death on the other hand is a little scary to think about. It is an unknown. My faith in Jesus gives me something to look forward to. A time that will be everlasting. How wonderful a thought that is. I will work for Jesus and serve him until the end.

Dearest Jesus, what a great gift you have given me. It is so wonderful to be able to serve you here on earth and look forward to everlasting life with you in heaven. Amen.
