Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12: 1-2

In Paul’s letter to the Romans, he speaks of “offering your bodies as a living sacrifice” – said another way : because God has shown amazing mercy to us, through the saving power of Jesus over death, is appropriate for all of us to be dedicated to God, to give Him our lives as a sacrifice to use for His purposes right now on this earth.

Let us pray together :  Holy and Loving God, indeed Your mercy, grace and kindness flows to us like a river.  We are thankful for all of it Lord. We desire that we be what you need us to be in this world today : help us to be the church you need, a church that reaches out to our fellow citizens , righting what is wrong, showing love instead of anger and upset, and telling the world of Your saving mercy in Jesus, The Risen One, in whose Name we pray.       Amen

Yours in Christ  ,  Rollie

Romans 12:1-2 (NIV) A Living Sacrifice
1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters,
in view of God’s mercy,
to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God
—this is your true and proper worship.

I believe all of us are looking for True and Proper worship all over our lives. Romans 12:1 clearly declares our true and proper (NIV) / hoy and acceptable (ESV) / spiritual (NRSV) worship is “to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God.”

What is to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice to God?
A sacrifice must be dead but the sacrifice here is a living sacrifice. It means that our lives must be dedicated to God such as sacrifice given to God. As Paul confessed and declared in Galatians 2:20, our lives must be dedicated to God with our own confession that “I am no longer live in me, but Christ lives in me.” Although I am alive, I am no longer live in me, but I let Christ be the lord of my life, which must be my spiritual worship to God throughout my whole life.

Father, thank you for reminding me that my life must be a living sacrifice. Give more Your wisdom and guide me to give more holy, proper, acceptable, and spiritual worship to You whenever I remember You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Romans 12:1-2

Do not conform to the pattern of this world – This is as important a message as it has ever been for Christians. The world seems to be abandoning every Christian principal in favor of hate and violence. It is encouraging that Christians are protesting against the regulations that are keeping churches closed by gathering in parks and on beaches. They are in the news and may actually bring more people into the fold. I’m happy with our situation at Hillside for the time being.

Lord thank you for giving some people the courage to stand up for love instead of hate. Help them to spread the message that there is a better way to affect change rather than rioting, when they gather in Portland on August 8th. Amen.

Romans 12: 1-2

2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Dare to be different. This is what God is asking from us. Don’t let all the distraction of this world interfere with God’s plan. Each day I offer to God everything I do, or think or say. In this way I am offering a living sacrifice to God. That doesn’t mean I don’t make mistakes. I don’t offer the day to get out of the bad things that life throws at me. I offer my day to God in the hopes that He realizes how much I want to please Him. Hopefully I don’t let the world around me alter my thinking.

Dearest Lord, you gave us your Son in order to be redeemed. I thank you for that wonderful gift so that I might have life everlasting with You. Help me always to be a living sacrifice to you. Amen.
