1 Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day.
3 Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.
4 For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods.
5 For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the Lord made the heavens.
6 Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and glory are in his sanctuary.
7 Ascribe to the Lord, all you families of nations,
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Psalm 96:1-7
In one of this week’s readings, the Psalm is a calling for all the people to sing to God’s praises and to worship Him. The reason for this is make it plain and clear that God, and Him alone, is The true LORD of heaven and earth. V.5 speaks of the “all the gods of the nations” – this is reference to other gods that were worshipped by other peoples in the region. But as it states very plainly, they are merely idols. Our God, the LORD of heaven and earth, rules over all !!!
Let us pray please : Father God, Abba……….You alone are the LORD !!! You created all that there is, and You will continue to reign over all that will come in the future. We worship You, and You alone. You brought the earth, and all in it, into being. And so importantly, You brought salvation through Your great love through Your only begotten son, Jesus. It is in His great name we pray……..Amen.
Yours in Christ , Rollie
