44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.       Acts 2:44-47

In these verses in Acts, we see the early days of the church, kind of in its’ infancy – and how wonderfully things went, as all were of one mind – a mind and heart to serve God. Selfishness is gone, and sharing, caring and charity replace it. And the LORD brought blessings to them in many ways, not the least of which was by increasing their numbers.   A model for our world to think about during these turbulent times ?

Let us be in prayer :  Creator God, in this world where only thinking of ourselves sometimes rules the day, help us to think more outwardly – to care for others less fortunate, to right the wrongs of injustice to others, to replace hate and anger with love and compassion. We are the church , the body of Christ. Guide us to be a cohesive unit, working and living together for one purpose – to bring the world closer to You, by giving You the praise and glory You deserve. In Jesus’ powerful name we pray, Amen.

Yours in Christ  ,  Rollie

Acts 2: 44-47

42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

This is a picture of the primitive church. It was in its infancy. They believed what was preached to them and worked in fellowship with all. The Holy Spirit filled them up with love and devotion and they shared this with all around them. We can continue to do this today. The message may not be received like it was back then, but we can attempt to spread Jesus’ name and how wonderful it is to be part of Gods family. We can do this one little step at a time.

Dearest God teach me to be a better supporter and defender of the faith to all I meet. Help me to know how to preach your word without being too intrusive. I want to be a better defender of the faith and a loyal follower. Amen.

Acts 3:44-47

An open letter to Pastor Gil

Today’s reading made me think about how Jesus’ word has affected my life and I realized that a major change occurred at the first service with Pastor Gil in July 2018. I had never been a reader of the bible. My exposure to the word was through scripture reading each Sunday. Gil has consistently preached from and about the bible and has brought an appreciation of the written word to me. Now I read the bible each morning and a chapter before bed each night. I don’t always understand what I’m reading but that will come over time.

An even more wonderful thing has happened in my life. My Catholic wife Barbara attended that first service in July and hasn’t missed a service since. She refers to herself as born again. The impression Gil made on her life has been amazing to me.

Pastor, I think you sometimes wonder if you are effective as a missionary. Please take these statements as proof that you have permanently changed 2 lives, and I believe many more, forever.

God bless you,
David and Barbara MacDonald
