13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:13,14,16-18
In today’s reading from Paul’s letter, he tries to help them understand a little more clearly about Jesus’ return ( the rapture, if you will). Because of what we believe, we have the bright prospect of once again being with our loved ones who have gone before us. When He returns to claim those who belong to Him, He will bring those who have physically passed from this earth too. Paul wanted to encourage and strengthen the Thessalonians on this matter through this part of his teaching.
Holy and Eternal God, may Your great name always be praised ! Thank you Lord, that we have this to look forward to – that we will be able to be with those we love once again, when you come to claim Your kingdom. And we will never be parted again !! Hallelujah !!
We pray all in Your precious name, Lord and savior. Amen.
Yours in Christ , Rollie
