16 So then, from this point on we won’t recognize people by human standards. Even though we used to know Christ by human standards, that isn’t how we know him now. 17 So then, if anyone is in Christ, that person is part of the new creation. The old things have gone away, and look, new things have arrived!         2 Corinthians 16,17

In today’s reading , Paul speaks of how the “old things have gone away” – said another way, the perspective or view we had on life before, the worldly view, is gone and that “new things have arrived!” – The Good News of Christ and victory over sin and death. Through this sacrificial act, God is once again reconciled to all of us, we are no longer separated by the bonds of sin, those are broken once and for all. Our view must now be one of love, compassion, and understanding for our fellow man.

Let us pray, please – Loving and Giving God, indeed we were apart from you, living our worldly ways of greed and love of materials. But now, You have brought us to the better path of living, a road giving rather than taking, of showing compassion rather than anger, a road of embracing rather than criticizing.  Help us Lord God, to be more Christ-like as each day passes. Teach us to put away the old once and for all, and wrap our minds and hearts around the new, the loving, the sharing way…………it is through our Savior Jesus we pray.    Amen.

Yours in Christ  ,  Rollie

2 Corinthians 5:16

So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer.

This is a beautiful thought and it is certainly a goal that I want to achieve. However, when I think of the person who shot two police officers as they sat in their car I don’t think I could ever forgive them. I can’t conceive of how a person gets to a point in their lives where they can try to end a life for no possible reason other than hate.

Prayer: Lord please help me to understand how You, let alone I, can forgive this kind of action. I would like to “regard no one from a worldly point of view” but I’m am a long way from that right now. Give me the strength and understanding that I need to be more like You.

2 Corinthians 5: 16-21

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

This verse is very personal to me. I say that I have been born again, and that is how I feel. Coming back to a relationship with God that I had put on a back shelf for years and only went to him when I needed something. I feel I have been transformed these last 2½ years and will be forever grateful for that awakening. I know I have a long way to go but I see a change in the way I live my life and I will be forever grateful for that.

Dearest God, you reconciled with me and I will be forever grateful for that. You awakened in me a desire to learn more about you and to learn what you desire of me here on earth. I am forever grateful for my second chance to get it right. I love you very much. Amen.
