“But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ. For He Himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostilities.”                Ephesians 2:13-14

In today’s reading, Paul is speaking mainly to those who felt like they were outsiders during those times, the Gentiles , people who were “excluded from citizenship in Israel, foreigners to the covenant of the promise”. But now, through Christ’s victory over sin and death, all the peoples are brought together as one. He says that all are fellow citizens under God, members of one household.

Let us pray together :   Unifying and Loving God, these are words of great comfort for all of us today, as our land struggles with injustice, anger and upset. Help us , Lord, to seek love not hate, help us to teach our children about compassion to all , not anger and exclusion of some. Your Beloved died on the cross at Calvary to bring us all together as one. Guide us to be The Church you desire us to be.
Through Christ’s Great Name we pray, Amen.

Yours in Christ , Rollie

Ephesians 2:11-13 (NIV)

11 Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called “uncircumcised” by those who call themselves “the circumcision” (which is done in the body by human hands) — 12 remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

Jesus was the barrier breaker who brought the people who were “excluded from the society and foreigners to the covenants fo the promise, without hope and without God in the world” (v.12) into the family of God in Christ Jesus by the blood of Christ. (v.13) We need to remember we were those people before accepting Jesus as Christ so that we must be able to accept the people who are unfamiliar with us and consider them as the family of God. The church is a group of people who welcome those who are far away from God as our family. This is what Jesus had done for us and them. It is not easy but the direction we must move forward and get used to it as a part of our lifestyle.

Prayer - Father God, thank you for bringing up a weak area of my life today and giving me good models from our congregation. Help me to learn by examples around me so that I can be more acceptable and embracing unfamiliar people like them. Lord, bless them who are good examples for me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
