Our Daily Devotion for Monday, January 4th, 2021

3 So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth, 3 for you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is your[a] life is revealed, then you also will be revealed with him in glory.
5 Put to death, therefore, whatever in you is earthly: anger,  impurity, evil desire, and greed (which is idolatry).       Colossians 3:1-5
 
Things reading from Paul’s letter addresses the idea of seeking spiritual , God focused things in their lives, as opposed to the earthly things – jealousy, anger, telling lies, desiring wealth. Paul tells the readers to not only just avoid them, but to “Put to death……whatever in you is earthly (v.5).
 
Let us pray please :  Holy and Loving God – we are a sinful people – we do worship power, money, material things. We allow ourselves to fall into angry or jealous thoughts , the trappings of The Evil One.  Bring Your light of love, we ask, into our lives and let us be the beacons to show that light of compassion, caring and understanding out into this world. Please let it be so.  In Jesus Name ….. Amen.
