Matthew 13:31-33, Mark 4:30-32, Luke 13:18-21 The Parable of the Mustard Seed.
I love it when more than one of the gospels has the same story. It just adds credence for those who sometimes question the stories in the Bible. The mustard seed is one of those. It is also a favorite of many. Jesus was trying to explain the Kingdom of God. I remember getting a mustard seed necklace when I joined the church and I did the same for my granddaughters. It is a simple message. Grow your faith like the mustard seed, which in Jesus day grew into a large sturdy tree. We need faith as strong and sturdy to help grow the Kingdom of God. I love the versions of this story that end with this line: ....big enough that the birds can come and nest in its branches. I feel that that is telling me to build my faith so I may live in the Kingdom of God. Roz
Prayer: Gracious God help me to never waiver from reading your word daily in the hopes that I may grow my faith and share it with others so they may be part of the Kingdom. Amen
