6 Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;7 rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death--
even death on a cross! Philippians 2:6,7,8
What Paul says here is not a call for us to imitate Christ, which would be humanly impossible, but a call to all of us believers to live in the identity of who they are in Christ. While Christ was indeed God’s Chosen One, he lowered himself , living a life without any riches or any trappings of that. Jesus did not exploit His closeness to God, but rather being a servant, and dying the lowly way of crucifixion. God’s ensuing exaltation of Jesus confirms Jesus’ mission, to be The Savior !
Let us pray together : God of All Creation, all praise and glory are Yours Lord ! Please guide us and help us understand the direction that our lives need to go to serve You the best. Teach us how to love without conditions, to give selflessly, to right the wrongs of hatred and injustice in our world, to serve others, not to want to be served. We pray all in Jesus’ Saving Name, Amen.
Yours in Christ , Rollie
