Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.  For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.  Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.      1 Corinthians 12:12-27

In Paul’s Letter, he speaks of our bodies not being just one part, but many parts – hands, feet, eyes, etc. And that there is a need for all of these parts to work in unison, to move and act together, each doing the task they were designed by God to do. So it is with the Body of Christ-the church. We are each brought together with different abilities, skills and talents. But it is important that we leverage all of this in a unified effort – which is the spreading of God’s Word and The Good News of salvation through Christ !

Let us pray please : Eternal and All Giving God – it was through Your great act that the earth, the skies, the mighty waters, and yes all the creatures therein, were created. You also formed us, bringing all parts together to form us, to mold us. We thank you Lord.  Help us, Your church, to work and act as one to guide and nurture this struggling world of ours, that we can bring peace, understanding and caring to the forefront. We pray all of this in Your Son’s healing name.   Amen.

Yours in Christ  ,  Rollie

1 Corinthians 12: 12-31

27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

We are the body of Christ. Through the Holy Spirit all things are revealed about Jesus. The Holy Spirit makes Jesus real to all of us. By receiving the Holy Spirit we are joined to Christ. The Church is a group of people who share the same beliefs, who hope to help change the world by sharing the life of God. It is so wonderful that I have been blessed with being part of Christ Church. I find that at this late stage of my life I have come to realize how important being part of the church family is. Being born again has been a wonderful journey for me.

Dearest Jesus, help me to remember how important it is to always present you to all I meet. Give me the grace to always follow your ways and show all whom I meet how wonderful it is to believe. Thank you for allowing me to have this second chance on this journey to you. I love you and want to do my best for you. Amen.

This is a theme that we have heard often in the recent past through daily reading and from Pastor Gil's sermons and other reminders to us. No matter how little we think we have to offer to the functioning of the church we all have a role to play, even if it is only with our attendance, donations and prayers. We just have to be open to serve when the opportunity is presented.
