21 Once you were alienated from God and you were enemies with him in your minds, which was shown by your evil actions. 22 But now he has reconciled you by his physical body through death, to present you before God as a people who are holy, faultless, and without blame. 23 But you need to remain well established and rooted in faith and not shift away from the hope given in the good news that you heard. This message has been preached throughout all creation under heaven. And I, Paul, became a servant of this good news.     Colossians 1: 21-23

In today’s reading, an important point to think about is that we are reconciled back to God, not the other way around. That is because we have “departed” God with our sinful ways, and need to be brought back to Him. In Christ’s death on the cross, we are both redeemed ( released from the slavery of sin) and we are able now to be saved ( reconciled) once and for all !!  Indeed , this is The Good News !!

Let us pray together – God of our fathers, when we were apart from You, we struggled so much. And You knew this. Thank you that Your love was so broad and amazing that You brought Your Son, Jesus, into this world , to pay our debt, to save us from our sinful ways , rescuing us from certain death. Help us, Dear LORD, to never, ever forget what You did for us. We pray all through our Redeemer, Christ Jesus.    Amen.

Yours in Christ  ,  Rollie

Colossians 1: 15-23

19 For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

I find this whole concept mind boggling. That God the Father gave us his son in order to have eternal life. To think that we are redeemed through death. Jesus worked for us so long ago and yet he knew us. He knew our weaknesses and yet he loved us. Jesus put a face to God, someone we can relate to, a human form. How wonderful is God. Jesus is our lord and savior. He has opened my heart and given me hope.

Dearest Jesus, thank you for all you do for us. You have changed my heart and given me hope for eternal life. What a gift you give. You answer my prayers. What a wonderful gift. Amen.

20200917 Thu, Daily Devotion - Colossians 1:20

[Colossians 1:20, NLT] and through Him, God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ's blood on the cross.

This verse lets us know God’s way of reconciliation with everything in heaven and on earth. For a second, I come to a moment of thinking “is it possible?” but when God said so, He did so. His way is through HIM, Jesus Christ. He said He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross. His method of reconciliation is simple which is through the blood of Christ Jesus. Anyone who comes to God through the faith in the blood of Christ would be reconciled with God so that those would restore their relationship with God and the image of God.

Father, thank you for reconfirming the importance of the blood of Christ for the restoration of our relationship with God and the image of God in us. Please lead and guide me to restore my relationship with God and neighbors through coming back to the blood of Christ through true repentance. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
