26 Like a muddied spring or a polluted fountain
are the righteous who give way before the wicked.
27 It is not good to eat much honey,
or to seek honor on top of honor.
28 Like a city breached, without walls,
is one who lacks self-control.        Proverbs 25:26-28  NRSV

As humans, we are prone to giving in to the pressures of the material world, either because of possibly peer groups leading us into it, or the “pleasure” we think it will bring us. The problem is that it is corrupting in a sense – as the verses suggest, it “pollutes “ the fountain or “muddies” the spring ( referring to the council or advise we as Christians would give. Our hearts are not as pure for God as they were before.

Let us pray please – Holy God , You who are indeed pure and complete in all ways – help us, guide us, show us the way to that path, and protect us from The Evil One , who wants to lure us into sinful ways. Keep our minds and our hearts pure and focused on You, and Your desires for us, that we can serve You and You alone as Your church, Your people. Through Jesus we pray,   Amen

Yours in Christ  ,  Rollie
