t11 For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”      Luke 14:11
43 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”        Mark 10:43
16 So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.      Matthew 20:16

The compilation of readings for today have a common theme running through them : that being the need for those who follow Jesus need to understand that they must not think selfishly concerning their thoughts, words and actions ; rather, they must be humble, contrite and desiring to serve rather than sitting back and being served. For this is precisely the way that Jesus lived – as a servant to all.

Let us pray please :  Lord God, we humans tend to think of ourselves first before others. We know this needs to change ; we need to serve, help and love others before ourselves. This is the proper way to live – a life of serving rather than being served , a life of humility rather than selfishness. To that end, help us please to be better at this, our God. We pray all this in our Savior’s Name…….Amen.

Yours in Christ  ,  Rollie
