To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. He is the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me.  Colossians 1:27-29

Paul’s letter speaks of the labor that needs to be done, the work for His church. As the church folks are taught about the faith, they can “pay it forward” as it were, and teach others. And Paul tells that we will receive the energy to do this labor by Christ himself girding us up. He also tells us that Christ lived and was victorious over death not just for the Jewish nation, but for all. God has entrusted Paul to spread these words, and now Paul wants others to continue. That is all of us, my brothers and sisters – The Church !!

Let us pray : Loving, Giving, Energizing God , thank you. You are the strength we need, You are the bond of love and compassion that we feel every day. As the world continues to move between good and bad situations, help us to be a strong church for You – a church that will be good stewards, as Paul was, doing all we can to tell this ebbing and flowing world of You and the Love You showed through Jesus, The Risen One……...Amen.

Yours in Christ  ,  Rollie

Colossians 1: 24-29

24 Now I rejoice in what I am suffering for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ’s afflictions, for the sake of his body, which is the church.

Paul suffered greatly spreading Christ word. Paul suffered greatly for the redemption of the church; we suffer in a slightly different way living our lives. Jesus’s suffering cannot be felt by us, but we can certainly attempt to understand all that he did for us. Through the Holy Spirit, Jesus reigns in us and we are assured of his glory if we follow him. We must be faithful to his teachings for the salvation of our souls.

Dearest Jesus, you suffered so much for us. Sometimes I question the suffering I see around me and experience in my own life. Yet it is nothing close to comparing to what you suffered for us. I hope I can make up for some of your suffering by following your teachings and doing good for others. Amen.
