14 Then the Lord’s anger burned against Moses and he said, “What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he can speak well. He is already on his way to meet you, and he will be glad to see you. 15 You shall speak to him and put words in his mouth; I will help both of you speak and will teach you what to do. 16 He will speak to the people for you, and it will be as if he were your mouth and as if you were God to him. 17 But take this staff in your hand so you can perform the signs with it.”          Exodus 4:14-17

Our reading today tells of the commissioning of Moses by God to be mediator or leader for the Israelites in Egypt. As we see in the reading, Moses is reluctant, using excuse after excuse not to be chosen. God agrees to team him up with Aaron, his brother. Aaron speaks well to others – combined with Moses’ heart and intelligence, they would work well for God in guiding the Israelites.
A question we can ask :  sometimes, are we like Moses , pulling away from tasks for Him that are tough or perilous ? In life, would we rather go on a smooth path, not one with twists and turns ?

Let us pray together :     Lord of All Heaven and Earth, thank you for Your presence in our minds, our hearts, our lives. We pray that you will equip us for “the journey” – our daily walk with you. Help us to learn, grow, teach others, be Your church in this world that needs You so badly. Bring us the knowledge we need to teach, help us to show Your compassion more freely to others who need love, where there are wrongs and hatred, help us to replace that with justice and caring.
We pray all in Your Name, Jesus…………..     Amen.

Yours In Christ  ,  Rollie

Exodus 4:1-20

Moses believes in God and trusts Him, but he still resists doing what God is telling him to do. I can relate to this. There are times when I know I should do a particular thing but I’m too lazy or bashful or stubborn, so I resist and it doesn’t get done.

Lord, the more I absorb your word the more I will be able to do what is right. Please help me to maintain this path.

Exodus 4: 1-20

12 “Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.”

I never thought I would be part of a group of people commenting on what the Bible reading of the day means to me personally. Sometimes I feel funny even posting what I write because I am afraid of what people may think. I guess you could say that I don’t want to make a fool of myself. How vain is that? In a way I am like Moses. I doubt that God will guide me in what I write. I am attempting to overcome this and just do it. I have come a long way in the past 2 years and feel that God has guided me through it all. Maybe that’s all that we need is to realize that God will help and guide us as we work within His Church.

Dearest God, thank you for helping me overcome my shyness and giving me the knowledge to write for you. You are my God and I love you. Amen.

Moses, a spiritual giant for me, excused the five times to run away from God’s command. From Moses’ perspective, he thought he was not the right person for God’s work. But, God kept giving a number of signs he can trust and obey God. God taught Moses what he must trust and obey is not human’s skills, abilities, or experience, but God only. If God put me in a situation to represent God to the people around me, God will provide things I need for His work.

As I meditate on Exodus 4:1-20, I am so grateful for the people who support, help, and work with me for our church. There are always people who God prepared to work with me wherever I go in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, or even America. I realized one more time that what I have to do is to trust and obey God wherever I go and whatever I do.

Thank you Lord, God, my Father for providing everything I need for Your work and Your Kingdom. Keep pouring out your grace and mercy upon me so that I can move forward with trusting and obeying You more and more. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
