July 14, 2021A daily prayer from the New England ConferenceThe clergy and laity of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.
You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today's PrayerWell, Jesus, here we are again like children kneeling at our bedside in the simple act of prayer like you taught us. We pray.
Help us to make our prayers active in our lives, alive, incarnate like you showed us. We pray.
Help us to pray for and practice care not only for ourselves and our mothers and fathers and sisters and brothers but for all the others in the world just like you taught us. We pray.
Thank you for the vaccines. Remind us to mask every day not to hide but to heal. We pray.
Where we encounter hate, however it shows itself, help us to remain firm, committed, resolute, faithful as we stand with you, walk with you, love with you. We pray.
Fill us with the faith that empowers us to do as you instruct, trusting you to provide us with word and action as is needed in each moment. We pray.
Make us disciples, not only in name but in the way we live, that the prayers we utter might become the habits of our days, that when we proclaim “transformation of the world” we are prepared to begin with the transformation of our own lives. We pray.
And so, Jesus, give us your hand so we can rise up from the bedside and re-enter our world as those sent out by you to love the world, all of it, everyone, with the strength of the Holy Spirit.
We pray. Amen.
