A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis

During these difficult days, the Preachers' Aid Society of New England is sharing a daily prayer
based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.
You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today’s prayer

Romans 12: 17-21: Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave room for the wrath of God; for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” No, “if your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them something to drink; for by doing this you will heap burning coals on their heads.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Dear God, in the early light of this beautiful morning I take pause and give thanks to you. The One who models what is most noble, the One who is the maker of peace. I give thanks for the nourishment of daily bread and company of living water, so that I shall be noble too. For if the vengeance of healing hunger and watering the root of life is nobility — Come, fill me ... fill me with your peace! Amen.
