A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis

During these difficult days, Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC, is sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today’s prayer

​Almighty God!  We are grateful for your presence and seek your comfort and healing power. Our mourning seems endless. So many losses; we are in pain. Soothe our weary souls. 
 
You have restored those outside of community, making people whole. We have been broken, in body, spirit, mind; emotions. Please mend our brokenness.  
 
You are Love. We have witnessed your love. We feel your love. You cured Simon’s mother-in-law with a touch. If you touch our infirmed bodies, our shattered hearts, our disturbed souls, we will be whole. 
 
Merciful God send relief and healing for our wellbeing and your glory so that we will be available to serve you.  
 
Even if you don’t do this, we will continue to love you. We will still worship you. We will praise you through whatever condition we are in. For you are our creator, the creator of the ends of the earth. 
 
In our own strength, we lose heart. So, we wait on you, Faithful One. You do not faint or grow weary. Resting in you we are renewed. 
 
Hear our prayers, Almighty God. We petition you in the matchless name of Jesus the Christ. 
 
Amen.
