June 5, 2020A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisisDuring these difficult days, Bishop Sudarshana Devadhar and the members of the Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.
You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions. Today’s prayerRev. We Hyun Chang, Metro Boston Hope District Superintendent, writes: Instead of offering a daily prayer, I would like to invite you to consider writing your own prayer and having a prayerful day as we witness the deep void of human dignity and the painful struggle for justice for Black Lives in this land. As we remember the story of the breath of God hovering over such a void and chaos and the goodness and wholeness of God’s creation, let us offer our own prayer from our own breath and heart for the sake of God’s goodness and wholeness for all. Here are some suggestions for the day…
Natasha McKenna … Walter Scott … Sandra Bland … Bettie Jones … Alton Sterling … Philando Castile … Botham Jean … Atatiana Jefferson … Eric Reason … Breonna Taylor … Ahmaud Arbery … George Floyd. (To learn more, please use this link.) Practice breath prayer … breathe out all that need to be emptied for the peace and justice of God to enter in your hearts and on this nation…breathe in all that you need from God for you and for this nation to be made good and whole anew and again. Find a space to write your own prayer and offer it to God.
