A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis
During these difficult days, members of the Green Mountain District of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.
You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Scripture: Genesis 32:22-31
How many times in desperation,
While fleeing with fear and trepidation,
Have I sent away, sent on ahead
The very beloved ones who would offer
Comfort, solidarity, hope?
Separated by waters, by time and space,
I feel alone, isolated, set apart and truly
Set beyond my limits.
So in the dark of night,
I wrestle. I wrestle with You, O God.
I wrestle with faith, with doubt, with disbelief.
I wrestle illness, with loneliness.
I wrestle with my insecurities and arrogance,
And with my judgment and bias
That would view a stranger in the night
As a violent danger to my life,
Instead of Divine Comforter of my soul.
May I find solace, strength, and sustenance
In You, O God. In the very foundation of Life Abundant,
May I rest secure.
May I be forever marked by You, O God,
Not as a sign of past injury and present struggle,
But as symbol of Your steadfast, transforming presence
That means I am never alone, always, with You.
