A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis

During these difficult days, Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC, is sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today’s prayer

Everlasting God,
You are all things True, Correcting, and Perfect.
We thank you for showing us
by the power of your Word and the blessing of all creation
that no one, and nothing, can compare to You.

Like sun and moon, we rise up another day
to worship You. We rest another day
in obedient faith, and like the stars in the night, we rise up again
to point others to You,

by the power of Your Holy Spirit.

You know, see us and have planted us,
We who are All made in your image,
in spaces, communities where your Light is
both needed and desired, and in You
is Truth, a correcting wisdom with mercy.
Ever-pointing to our Messiah, Jesus Christ who lived for us.

By might and miracle, heal our grief, deliver us from darkness and infirmity.
Make us strong in adversity, to be as one who sets hope in You
Unfailing love, ever-pointing to our Messiah, Jesus Christ who died for us.

Deliver us into steadiness on a forward, discipled path.
With grace, order our steps and make us a grateful symphony
of salvation, with love -filled of gospel Truth
Make us immoveable.
Help our unbelief, grow our faith.
Help us to seek to refresh others, with our gifts
To You, as our will aligns with Yours,
So we, ever-pointing to our risen Messiah, Jesus Christ.

With grace, order our steps and allow our words and heart to speak life, Truth, and
The power of the gospel, ever-pointing to our Messiah, Jesus Christ who is to come.

Wonderful Counselor and Mighty God,
In the days to come, help us to walk and not faint,
beholding Your glory with holy reverence, and love for one another, help us to
trust Your will by faith in the One True and living God. Amen
