A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis

During these difficult days, Bishop Sudarshana Devadhar and the members of the Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.
You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today’s prayerWhat a consolation it is …
to close our eyes and go in heart and mind back to the beginning --
to the dawn of all things,
to the time before this present darkness,
to the birth of light.

What a solace it is …
to remember that the Word came in the fullness of time --
that the darkness did not overcome,
that this-this day and this struggle-this too shall pass,
that there is power to be born anew.

What a comfort it is …
to enter into the cadence of ancient words for the Word --
to walk with the people of the light,
to welcome the One who became flesh for such a time as this,
to awaken to the nativity of grace incarnate.

This is what it is to be close to the heart of God
for the sake of the whole world,
our lives a prayer.

Let it be so.

Amen.

Rev. Jill Colley Robinson, Green Mountain District Superintendent
Based on John 1.1-9,10-18
